Responsibilities
- Clear snow and ice from designated outdoor surfaces using shovels, snow blowers, and other manual or power tools.
- Apply salt or sand to prevent ice formation and improve traction on walkways and steps.
- Monitor weather conditions to anticipate snow accumulation and plan timely removal efforts.
- Ensure all pathways are safe and accessible by promptly addressing hazardous icy patches or snow build-up.
- Follow safety protocols diligently to prevent slips, trips, falls, or equipment-related injuries during outdoor work.
- Maintain cleanliness of tools and equipment after each shift to ensure optimal performance for future use.
- Report any property damage or safety hazards encountered during snow removal activities to supervisors immediately.
Skills
- Strong physical stamina with the ability to perform outdoor work in cold weather conditions.
- Mechanical knowledge for operating snow blowers, shovels, salt spreaders, and other groundskeeping equipment.
- Experience with landscape maintenance, groundskeeping, or landscaping tasks preferred.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and ground maintenance equipment operation.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to outdoor winter work environments.
- Ability to identify hazards such as icy patches or damaged surfaces that require attention.
- Basic understanding of irrigation systems, horticulture, plant identification, and lawn care is a plus for comprehensive grounds maintenance knowledge.
