BASIC FUNCTION: Assist a bus driver in maintaining order; attend to the needs and safety of handicapped students being transported to and from school. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE OF: Health and safety regulations First Aid and CPR practices and procedures Behavior management techniques ABILITY TO: Understand and relate to the needs and behavior of exceptional children Maintain order among children on a school bus Learn procedures for handling wheelchairs on buses Remain calm in stressful situations Understand and follow oral and written instructions Work cooperatively with others Lift handicapped students into bus seats Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
