SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS
Lodestar Energy is seeking a Director of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) to lead the design, engineering, negotiation, and construction of an expanding portfolio of solar and energy storage projects. The Director will support Lodestar’s Development team to design and engineer projects that are efficient, high quality and profitable. The successful candidate will oversee all 3rd party civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering contractors and lead negotiations on Engineering Procurement & Construction contracts. Additionally, the Director will manage construction to ensure projects are constructed on time and on budget. This role works closely with the Development, Finance, and Legal teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Contracting and Negotiation - Negotiate and manage all aspects of Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) contracts balancing cost, schedule, and equipment choices.
· Vendor Management - Translate designs into engineered drawings with 3rd party engineering firms. Build and maintain relationships with vendors, and EPC contractors to coordinate RFPs and contracts. This will be supported by a Cost Estimator (direct report)
· EPC Management - Responsible for the day-to-day successful execution of contracted engineering, procurement, and construction scope in the areas of performance, financial metrics, planning, schedule, quality, contractual and permitting compliance, and safety.
· Design & Value Engineering - Oversee design and value engineering with development team to maximize output and minimize cost prior to permitting. This will be supported by a Design Engineer (direct report).
QUALIFICATIONS
· Demonstrated interest in renewable energy and desire to work in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment.
· 5-10 years of work experience in construction and engineering with preference for renewable energy.
Experience negotiating construction and procurement contracts
· Proactive, results oriented with ability to manage complex schedules and meet timelines.
· Strong organizational skills with ability to quickly prioritize and offer solutions to problems.
· Strong communication skills – both verbal and written.
· Ability to work independently; driven and self-motivated.
· Undergraduate degree required. Civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering would all be positives.
LOCATION
Lodestar prides itself on a flexible work environment. The candidate will work in our NYC or West Hartford offices for a minimum of 4 days per week. Must have a valid driver’s license.
