Lodestar Children's Services is a licensed HCBS and CFTSS provider that has made over 45,000 home and community visits and supported more than 700 families since 2016. We believe kids thrive best at home — and our team makes that possible every day.
We're looking for a Youth Mental Health Specialist who is ready to work directly in clients' homes and communities, is passionate about youth mental health, and wants to grow in this field long-term. This is flexible, meaningful work — but it's also real work that requires real commitment.
What you'll do
- Provide 1:1 in-home and community-based support to youth and young adults (up to age 21)
- Teach coping strategies, emotional regulation, and life skills in real moments, in real settings
- Implement individualized treatment plans
- Collaborate with supervisors and a multidisciplinary care team
- Bridge communication between youth, families, schools, and support systems
- Complete session notes and documentation remotely — no office commute
Qualifications
- Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's degree in social work, psychology, human services, or related field.
- Preferred: Two years of experience working with children or adolescents within a human services related field
- Strong communication, empathy, and problem-solving skills
- Bilingual candidates strongly encouraged to apply
- Must pass fingerprinting and SCR background checks
- A valid Drivers License and reliable car (Long Island Only)
Compensation
- $27–$30/hr billable during 2-month probation · $30–$33/hr after
- $24/hr non-billable during probation (training, supervision, documentation) · $28.50/hr after
- Advanced rate: $46/hr post-probation for Master's-level candidates (in psychology, social work, or counseling) with 1 year of relevant experience
- Paid training, supervision, and professional development from day one
Schedule
- 10–25 hours per week — flexible around your life
- Ideal: 2–3 weekday afternoons/evenings, 2:00–8:00 PM
- Weekend availability is a bonus, not required
- Morning and daytime weekday hours are generally not available.
- Morning and daytime availability can be possible on the weekend.
