This role sits within the Sales organization and reports directly to Sales leadership. The Value Engineering Specialist is responsible for partnering with account teams on strategic deals, focusing on quantifying and articulating customer value. The role centers on building business cases, ROI models, and value narratives that accelerate deal cycles and increase win rates, while also contributing to initiatives that improve overall revenue performance and sales processes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Partner collaboratively with Account Executives and Solution Consultants to shape deal strategy, align on customer priorities, and deliver a consistent, customer‑centric, value‑led approach throughout the sales cycle.
- Engage authentically with customers to uncover business challenges, define success metrics, and co‑create value hypotheses aligned to operational, financial, and strategic priorities within Utilities & Energy organizations.
- Lead the development of business cases, ROI models, and financial analyses that clearly articulate economic impact, support investment decisions, and enable deal acceleration and expansion.
- Present value narratives to customer executives (e.g., CEOs, GMs, CxOs, SVPs) with confidence, accountability, and analytical rigor, addressing questions and objections with clarity and professionalism.
- Embed value‑based selling methodologies into active opportunities, ensuring economic impact and outcomes are consistently communicated across all customer interactions.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Sales, Marketing, and Product teams to develop innovative, scalable value frameworks, tools, benchmarks, and collateral that enhance pre‑sales effectiveness and customer engagement.
- Analyze sales performance and processes to identify bottlenecks and opportunities, contributing insights and recommendations that improve revenue outcomes and customer experience.
- Support continuous improvement of value engineering standards by sharing best practices, refining templates, and contributing to an agile, learning‑oriented sales culture.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3 years of experience in value consulting, management consulting, or a comparable analytical, customer‑facing role with a strong emphasis on business case development and ROI analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex financial and operational analyses into clear, compelling business narratives that support informed decision‑making.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, with high attention to detail and accountability for accuracy.
- Executive presence with the ability to confidently communicate insights and defend assumptions with senior stakeholders.
- Results‑oriented mindset with a focus on impact, execution, and customer outcomes.
- Self‑starter who can independently lead initiatives while collaborating effectively across teams, functions, and time zones.
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 30%.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience working in or supporting the Utilities & Energy sector, particularly within a technology or SaaS environment.
- Experience partnering closely with sales teams in a quota‑driven environment and supporting complex, consultative sales cycles.
- Familiarity with value‑based selling methodologies and tools.
- Strong process orientation with excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
