Required procedures include abdominal, endoscopy, liver, stomach, gallbladder, appendix, colon, laparoscopy, and spleen cases, with preference for clinicians experienced in pediatrics, thyroid, pulmonary, and vascular procedures. Amputations, C-sections, hysterectomies, and respirator care are not required for this assignment. The average daily census is 15 patients, with an average of 0 to 5 general surgery patients per 24-hour call period.
