LocumJobsOnline is working with Barton Associates to find a qualified Neurosurgery NP in New Mexico!
Our client in New Mexico is seeking a Neurological Surgery Nurse Practitioner for a 168-day assignment starting Jul 13, 2026. This role involves night shifts from 6 PM to 6 AM, primarily caring for adult patients with some pediatric cases, focusing on assessing and coordinating care for head and spine traumas, chronic cerebral anomalies, and providing post-operative monitoring and management of neurosurgical patients and devices. The provider will also respond to trauma calls and manage subacute trauma teams.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide care for mainly adult patients with occasional pediatric patients.
- Assess, coordinate care, and staff with on-call attending surgeon all head traumas, chronic cerebral anomalies, and on alternating weeks, spine trauma and chronic conditions.
- Respond to trauma calls when likely to involve brain or spinal trauma.
- Conduct post-operative monitoring and management of neurosurgical patients and neurosurgical devices (e.g., EVD, Irraflow, Lumbar drains) in both the ICU and on the medical floor.
- Provide nighttime medical management of one of the subacute trauma teams, including emergent management of declining patients pending elevation to ICU care.
