Position Overview
Lockton Northeast is seeking a Data Visualization Specialist to support the Precision Health (Population Health AKA PH) specialty practice in providing impactful, high quality data visualizations and custom reports to internal and external clients. The PH practice provides expertise in health informatics, population health analytics, and disease management point solutions for employers. This position will assist with building interactive dashboards, delivering recurring client-facing reports, and collaborating across teams on ad hoc analyses.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently to meet deadlines, demonstrate curiosity and creativity in problem solving, and contribute positively to a dynamic and supportive team environment. They should be comfortable querying SQL databases and efficiently cleaning and combining ad hoc data sources. They should be able to create interactive Tableau dashboards that facilitate data exploration and charts that summarize key analysis points.
Candidates with advanced Tableau skills, intermediate SQL skills, and experience effectively applying data visualization best practices will be prioritized. The ideal candidate will have a background in epidemiology or population health analytics and/or previous experience analyzing health insurance claims datasets. This role will report to the Data Informatics Leader in Boston.

Core Responsibilities
- Collaborate with PH consultants, data analytics teams, and client service teams to generate actionable and accurate population health insights.
- Design and develop interactive and static charts and dashboards in Tableau, following brand standards and data visualization best practices.
- Create dashboard templates and documentation to improve team efficiency.
- Review and validate reports for accuracy, consistency, and quality, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Conduct needs assessments for new projects with internal stakeholders.
- Gather requirements from internal and external stakeholders to ensure deliverables meet expectations.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices in data visualization and analytics, integrating new techniques and tools as appropriate.
- Create and maintain project documentation.
- Organize work priorities efficiently and manage time to meet deadlines.
- Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering continuous learning and professional growth.
- Attend and participate in remote and in-person meetings, as required.
- Comply with organizational, state, and federal regulatory policies, such as HIPAA and HITECH.
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of experience working in an analytical role creating advanced reports and dashboards using data visualization tools (Tableau preferred).
- Professional experience in the health insurance, employee benefits, population health analytics, or well-being vendor industries, or a background in epidemiology.
- Experience analyzing health insurance claims data, electronic medical records, or similar datasets.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in SQL, Tableau, and Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to develop user friendly self-service analytics dashboards that facilitate insight generation.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and communicate insights from complex data sets.
- Desire to learn new skills, seek out solutions, and continuously improve processes and methodologies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders clearly and effectively.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities.
- Interest in mentoring team members and collaborating across business areas.
- Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time.
- Must be legally able to work in the United States, without company sponsorship.
