Description:

This Quality Engineer (QE) will report to the Quality & Mission Success manager for F-35 Wings at the Fort Worth, TX manufacturing facility. The QE will be expected to regularly review manufacturing defects for root cause and corrective action, partner with Production Operations to mitigate scrap, rework and repair generated during standard manufacturing processes, develop inspection methods as needed, and perform various analyses of quality-related data. The QE is expected to spend time on the production floor to establish process familiarity, build relationships with Production personnel, and share quality engineering knowledge with junior QEs.

Applies Quality principles in the areas of: design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation, program performance, reliability, inventory control, and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality for make and/or buy products. Performs technical evaluations including product requirements, specifications, models/designs, drawings and procedures. Collaborates with program management, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and customers on quality related issues to ensure quality standards are in place. Engages in product failure investigations, material review board decisions and corrective/preventive action. Ensures corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and/or are compliant with requirements. Develops strategies and systems designed to improve internal and/or supplier performance and productivity. Evaluates quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts product quality tests, performs statistical analysis to assess products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.

Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM or business discipline

  • Demonstrated experience using quality science tools to solve manufacturing problems

  • Experience in an engineering or quality role

Desired Skills:


  • Hands-on inspection experience in a manufacturing environment; ability to use various precision measurement instruments

  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)

  • Six Sigma Green Belt

  • Tableau or similar data visualization experience

  • Experience leading teams or projects in a formal or informal capacity

  • Graduation from a corporate leadership development program such as QTLD, OLDP, ELDP, etc

Ability to Work Remotely:

Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules:

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position:

4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
