We are looking for an experienced permanent part-time Dermatology Mohs Histotech for Tuesdays and Wednesdays and some Mondays for immediate hire for our West Plano office. They must be familiar with a Leica CM 1850 cryostat.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Tissue Processing:
- Receive and accession tissue specimens, ensuring proper labeling and documentation
- Perform routine histological procedures, including tissue embedding, sectioning, staining (e.g., H&E, special stains), and coverslipping
- Maintain accurate and complete records of all procedures performed
- Quality Control:
- Ensure the quality and accuracy of all histological preparations
- Perform quality control checks at various stages of the processing and staining process
- Troubleshoot technical issues and implement corrective actions as needed
- Equipment Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of laboratory equipment, including microtomes, embedding stations, and staining machines
- Assist with the installation and troubleshooting of new equipment
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Comply with all relevant laboratory accreditation standards (e.g., CLIA)
- Other Duties as Assigned:
- Assist with other laboratory tasks as needed, such as inventory management, equipment maintenance, and training of new staff
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree in Histotechnology or a related field preferred
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience as a Dermatology MOHS Histology Technician in a clinical or research setting preferred
- Skills:
- Strong technical skills in histological techniques, including tissue processing, sectioning, and staining
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain accurate records
- Other:
- Experience with dermatopathology preferred
- Knowledge of CLIA regulations and safety protocols preferred
