Assistant Principals direct and manage assigned areas of instructional program and campus operations while modeling these district values and oversee assigned student activities and services.
Primary Purpose:
Reporting to the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, the Student Services Coordinator oversees initiatives aligned with the district's vision and strategic objectives. Responsibilities include enhancing community capacity and delivering assistance to schools in alignment with district goals. This role involves planning, organizing, and managing various student services programs such as Response to Intervention (RTI), social/emotional support, gifted and talented programs, and grant-funded initiatives. The Coordinator also undertakes related duties as needed.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from accredited university preferably ineducational leadership, or curriculum and instruction.
Masters' preferred
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements
Bilingual Preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of curriculum and instructional techniques including support for RTI, GT, and Advanced Academics with a common vision for criteria and expectations in all programming
Ability to organize and systemize processes
Ability to lead adults
Ability to analyze data and use date-driven decision-making to implement effective programs
Ability to plan and manage projects including collaboration, coordination, and facilitation of student and adult work groups
Ability to work collaboratively with others and facilitate groups to consensus
Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally, in writing, and in social media
Experience:
3 years teaching experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Streamline and monitor the implementation of instructional strategies and programmatic usage, including Response to Intervention (both Academic and Behavioral), ensuring their effective integration.
- Coordinate the selection and deployment of instructional materials and strategies to address academic needs, ensuring alignment with student needs.
- Collaborate with district staff and school administrators to implement evidence-based student support services, aiming to optimize student achievement and foster professional growth.
- Gather, analyze, and interpret data and performance metrics to enhance the delivery of student services, facilitating informed decision-making.
- Contribute to the development of policies and procedures, offering technical support to ensure compliance with relevant federal, state, and local regulations governing student services.
- Manage data required for federal and state reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Propose, organize, deliver, and assess professional development initiatives pertaining to student services, enhancing staff expertise and efficacy.
- Assist in creating policies and procedures for the Gifted and Talented program, offering technical guidance to ensure effective implementation and compliance.
- Provide guidance and leadership to counselors, offering support and assistance where needed with academic needs
- Oversee Summer School operations; providing administrative support throughout the summer session.
- Provide support for grant-funded initiatives.
- Prepare and submit necessary reports, presentations, and agenda items for Board consideration.
- Establish annual objectives as directed by supervisory personnel.
- Support textbook adoptions the selection process
- Support annual Secondary Course Guide meetings and preparation of materials
- Support campuses with the implementation of Gear Up
