Mission: The Locker Project connects food-insecure children in Maine with
nourishing food to improve their learning capacity, health and future. We
take a whole-family approach to child hunger with programs that strive to
be low-barriers, stigma-free and environmentally responsible.
Summary
The Delivery Driver is responsible for ensuring the safe and timely delivery of Locker Project bags of
produce and staples to our school and agency partners. Our drivers serve as the public face of a
community-oriented childhood hunger relief organization and provide courteous and respectful service
to a wide variety of distribution partners.
Compensation
Hourly @ $21.00 with paid holidays and PTO earned with each hour worked.
Schedule
Part-time, 15 to 20 hours per week, during school hours, Tuesday through Friday.
Job Responsibilities
● Ensure the safe and timely delivery of packaged food to school and agency partners in a van.
● Adhere to planned routes to ensure arrival at designated times.
● Utilize thermal blankets and other tools to maintain food safety.
● Engage with partner staff to offload and store in designated area.
● Communicate issues and questions to appropriate staff via Slack.
● Ensure adequate gas in vehicle at completion of each shift.
● Report any maintenance issues to fleet manager.
Required Qualifications
● Excellent driving record. Note: CDL is NOT required.
● Experience driving large vans or other comparably sized vehicles
● Cheerful, professional presence.
● Reliable private vehicle for getting to base location in South Portland, ME.
● Reliable cell phone with ability to access Slack and other apps as needed.
● Two professional references.
● Background check as required by school partners.
Preferred Experience
● Logistics and/or warehouse management.
● Safe food storage and transport. (Training will be provided.)
● Familiarity with the geographical area of our delivery services (Portland, South Portland, and
Westbrook, Maine).
Physical Requirements
● Ability to repeatedly lift and move boxes up to 50 lbs throughout the workday.
● Ability to drive continuously for several hours.
Salary : $21
