PROJECT MANAGER – DESIGN-BUILD FIRM
Kansas City, MO | Full-Time
We're hiring an experienced Project Manager to lead design-build projects from preconstruction through completion. You'll manage budgets, schedules, teams, and clients on complex commercial and institutional work across Kansas City.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Own project delivery from design through construction, coordinating designers, trades, and subcontractors on integrated teams
- Develop and track project budgets and schedules; manage costs, change orders, and scope
- Lead site teams and manage subcontractor performance to schedule and quality standards
- Serve as primary client contact; communicate proactively on progress, budget, and scope changes
- Participate in preconstruction planning, value engineering, and bid development
- Manage subcontracts, purchase orders, RFIs, submittals, and closeout documentation
- Ensure site safety and compliance with all project requirements
WHAT YOU NEED
- 5 years of construction project management experience
- Proven track record delivering projects $2M–$25M
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and cost estimation
- Experience managing multiple trades and subcontractors
- Proficiency with project management software (Procore, Touchplan, or similar)
- Ability to read plans, specs, and contracts
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
NICE TO HAVE
- Design-build or integrated delivery experience
- Preconstruction and value engineering background
- Experience with commercial or institutional projects (office, healthcare, education, hospitality)
- Knowledge of Kansas City contractors and labor market
- PMP, DBIA, or similar certification
