The South Central Regional Manager has full responsibility for the strategic, operational, and financial performance of Lochner / Egis’ business across Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas, with direct profit and loss accountability. Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer (COO), this role provides senior leadership and hands-on oversight of client account management, business development, operations, and community engagement, as well as talent development, retention, and recruitment.
The Regional Manager works collaboratively with the Regional Operations Manager, State Business Development Leaders, and Regional Practice Leaders to ensure performance goals are achieved. This leader maintains visibility into sales, operations, staffing, and risk across the region and partners closely with the COO to execute enterprise-wide and regional initiatives.
Key Duties
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive regional business strategy aligned with Lochner / Egis U.S. growth objectives, in collaboration with National and Regional Practice Leaders and State Business Development Leaders.
- Identify and pursue growth opportunities, including organic expansion, market diversification, and mergers and acquisitions.
- Monitor industry trends, competitive activity, and market conditions to inform strategic decision-making.
Operations & Project Oversight
- Provide executive-level oversight of regional projects and programs to ensure timely delivery, budget adherence, and compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with project managers to support planning, staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Proactively address escalated project challenges to maintain strong client relationships and successful outcomes across the project lifecycle.
Talent & Team Leadership
- Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing technical and operational teams, including engineers, project managers, and field and support staff.
- Establish clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative workplace culture.
- Develop succession plans for key leadership roles within the region.
- Implement an employee-engagement plan, including outreach sessions/listening forums, direct engagement with mid-level staff.
- Support post-merger integration efforts and facilitate resource sharing across newly acquired firms.
Client & Partner Relationships
- Build and sustain strong relationships with key clients, strategic partners, and teaming firms throughout the region.
- Serve as a senior point of contact for major client engagements, inquiries, and issue resolution.
- Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
Financial Management
- Develop and manage regional budgets with a focus on profitability, efficiency, and sustainable growth.
- Monitor financial performance across operations and business development activities, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Provide leadership input on pricing strategies, contract terms, and risk management.
Health, Safety & Risk Management
- Champion a strong culture of health and safety across the region.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and proactively address potential risks to prevent incidents and injuries.
Community & Professional Engagement
- Represent Lochner / Egis at client meetings, industry conferences, and business and community events.
- Take an active leadership role in regional professional organizations and industry associations to enhance the firm’s visibility and reputation.
Qualifications & Skills
- 15 years of diversified engineering experience, including progressive technical and leadership roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline; master’s degree preferred.
- Demonstrated success leading multi-office or regional operations with P&L responsibility.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven experience in operations management, project delivery, and business development.
- Strategic thinker with sound judgment, problem-solving ability, and financial acumen.
