We are seeking an experienced HR Business Partner Director with 15 years of HR experience to help with a growing business in the US. This role partners with senior leaders across design, engineering, project management, and construction operations to translate business strategy into people strategy, drive workforce planning for complex project-based environments, and deliver pragmatic, compliance minded HR solutions that improve performance, retention and culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Partnership

    • Act as a trusted partner to business unit leaders on organization design, workforce planning, change management, and people risks tied to project delivery and commercial objectives.

    • Assesses HR Implications of the business strategy, identifies opportunities and uses the industry and market mindset to further meet business needs and designs solutions.

    • Champions the Regional and Global HR Strategy, ensuring proposed HR programs are viable to the business.

  • Compensation & Rewards

    • Partner with compensation to develop market-aligned pay structures, incentive, retention and recognition programs.

  • Performance & Career Framework

    • Design and implement performance management, competency frameworks, career pathways and succession planning.

  • Employee Relations & Investigations

    • Lead complex employee relations cases, disciplinary processes and investigations with sound judgement, and legal compliance.

  • Change management & Culture

    • Understands change management concepts and organizational objectives needdto drive execute transformation and talent priorities.

    • Drive culture initiatives supporting safety, collaboration between office/site teams, client focus and inclusion across multi-disciplinary teams.

    • Support major transformations, integrations (mergers, reorganizations, systems).

  • Learning & development

    • Identify critical capability gaps (technical, leadership, safety culture) and build development programs, mentoring and on-the-job learning aligned to project lifecycle needs.

    • Helps to develop talent solutions based on business objectives.

  • Risk & compliance

    • Ensure HR practices comply with employment law (state and federal), health & safety and immigration requirements relevant to multi-jurisdictional projects.

  • HR analytics & insights

    • Applies data interpretation and analysis to understand business and organizational challenges to design solutions.

    • Use people data and project KPIs to influence decisions — attrition trends, bench capacity, billable utilization, time-to-fill and diversity metrics.

  • Coach & capability building

    • Mentor HR generalists and HR coordinators; elevate HR service delivery and subject-matter expertise within the function.

    • Coaches senior leadership to drive engagement with the business or function.

  • Team Leadership and Development

    • Build and lead a high-performing team, providing guidance and support for career growth.

    • Foster a culture of continuous learning development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or other related field; SHRM-SCP, SPHR or other senior level certification preferred.

  • 15 years human resources and 10 years HRBP experience, highly skilled in partnering with leadership to formulate strategic business goals.

  • Demonstrated experience driving organizational change initiatives, developing work force plans, and influencing business leaders.

  • High ethical standards, confidentiality and resilience in high-pressure environment.

  • Proficiency with data analytics and HR systems (Oracle HCM and SmartRecruiters experience a plus).

  • Working knowledge of employment, tax and benefits regulations across the Americas or proven experience partnering with local legal/tax experts.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.

  • Excellent relationship building, influencing and change-management skills.

Work Environment

Must be alert to equipment in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.
