Experienced Mail Carrier Wanted: Fairfield, MT USPS Contract Route
Lochary Logistics is looking for one experienced mail carrier for a USPS Highway Contract Route out of the Fairfield Post Office, 409 1st Ave S, Fairfield, MT 59436.
Pay: $106,000 per year ($349.75 per day), 1099 independent contractor. After vehicle and fuel expenses, you should net $90,000 or more. This is one of the highest-paying mail routes in Montana.
The contract
- About a year and a half remaining, and it will likely run longer
- Fairfield to Fairfield, about 131 miles a day
- Monday through Saturday, roughly 8 hours a day (Mondays and Saturdays run 8-9 hours)
Please read before applying
- Nearly the entire route is gravel, and you have to move fast on it. If you're a slow driver, this route won't work for you.
- This is an extremely demanding route. Prior mail delivery experience is required.
- Even experienced carriers will feel lost for the first week or two.
- Orientation only: you can ride along with or follow the current carrier to learn the route. This is a contract position, so there is no paid training.
Vehicle requirements (you provide your own)
- Four-wheel drive
- 10-ply tires
- Minimum 120 cubic feet of cargo space
- You cover your own fuel and upkeep.
Also required: A clean driving record and the ability to pass USPS fingerprinting and a background check.
