Responsibilities
- Deliver direct resident care by assisting with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility using safe handling techniques like Hoyer lifts and manual handling practices.
- Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature; accurately document findings in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Assist with specialized care needs such as catheter care, wound management, infection control using aseptic techniques, and dementia or memory care strategies.
- Facilitate resident transfers using appropriate methods like patient transfer techniques and equipment such as Hoyer lifts; ensure safe handling practices during all movements.
- Communicate effectively with residents and coworkers.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by following infection control protocols and adhering to safety guidelines for heavy lifting and safe patient handling.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or equivalent credential required.
- Experience working with diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatric patients, or individuals with developmental disabilities is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS/CPR).
- Prior experience in long-term care facilities, hospitals assisted living communities, or home health settings is advantageous.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as heavy lifting while maintaining safe lifting practices.
