DESCRIPTION:
Substitute teachers receive short-term assignments to cover teacher absences from the classroom and are responsible for following lesson plans to maintain and further student learning. Successful applicants will receive assignments through SmartFind Express substitute scheduling system.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- This position requires at minimum an Emergency Substitute Teacher Permit for Prospective Teachers issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC)
- Candidates can qualify to apply for this Permit if they are enrolled in a regionally-accredited four-year California college or university, have a minimum of 90 semester units and have passed the CBEST exam

- Negative TB test current within past 60 days
- Sealed copies of all college transcripts

- On June 29, 2024, Governor Gavin Newsom signed a budget trailer bill, SB 153 (Chap. 38, Statutes of 2024), that allows candidates to use their bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education (IHE) as demonstration of the basic skills requirement, effective immediately.
