POSITION DESCRIPTION

Child Nutrition Assistant Substitute   

Reports to:      Child Nutrition Manager, Child Nutrition Director

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Perform all duties assigned by the Child Nutrition Manager and/or Director in the selection, preparation, and serving of food.
• Maintain a clean and safe food service environment by performing sanitation duties to ensure that all equipment is thoroughly cleaned in accordance with state regulations.
• Store, use, and dispose of food and supplies in accordance with federal, state, local, and district regulations.
• Assist with the accurate keeping of records and ordering of supplies.
• Exhibit courtesy and understanding to all staff, students, and customers.
• Participate in formal and informal training.
• Maintain a neat, clean, and safe work environment.
• Perform additional duties as requested by the Child Nutrition Manager or Director.

Working Conditions:

• Must be able to physically withstand hours of heavy work under production pressure.
• Work is considered moderate to heavy physical work requiring the exertion of and/or lifting of up to 50 pounds of force.
• Must be able to withstand heat, exposure to chemicals, and standing for long periods of time.
• Some walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling can be involved. Must be able to bend, squat, and reach overhead.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent. 
• Experience in quantity food preparation preferred. 
• ServSafe certification is a plus.
