Role Description This part-time, on-site Veterinarian role is based at the LocalVet Urgent Care clinic in Missouri City, TX. The Veterinarian will perform physical examinations, diagnose and treat urgent conditions, develop treatment plans, and provide follow-up recommendations for companion animals. Daily responsibilities include ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, performing minor procedures, and documenting medical records accurately and efficiently. The role also involves communicating clearly with pet caregivers about diagnoses, treatment options, and home care, while collaborating with veterinary technicians and support staff to ensure smooth clinic operations. The Veterinarian will help maintain a safe, clean, and well-equipped clinical environment and uphold LocalVet Urgent Care’s standards for patient care and client experience.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) from an accredited institution and an active, unrestricted veterinary license in the state of Texas (or eligibility to obtain).
- Clinical skills in small animal urgent or emergency care, including physical examination, diagnostic reasoning, minor procedures, and pain and wound management.
- Ability to interpret laboratory results and imaging, develop evidence-based treatment plans, and adjust care as patient conditions evolve.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to explain medical information clearly, provide compassionate client guidance, and collaborate with a diverse clinical team.
- Commitment to patient safety, medical record accuracy, and adherence to veterinary standards of care, legal requirements, and ethical guidelines.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, urgent care setting, with sound judgment, time management, and prioritization skills.
- Experience with veterinary practice management and electronic medical record systems, or willingness to learn clinic-specific software.
- Flexibility to work part-time hours, including evenings or weekends as needed, and to participate in ongoing professional development and training.
- Previous experience in urgent care, emergency, or general small animal practice is preferred but not required; new graduates with strong clinical skills and interest in urgent care are encouraged to apply.
