LocalVet Urgent Care is growing, and we're looking for an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our privately owned, veterinarian-led urgent care team!

What You'll Do

You'll play an essential role in patient care by:

• Triage urgent care patients and obtain accurate patient histories and vital signs
• Perform venipuncture and place intravenous catheters with confidence
• Collect laboratory samples and perform in-house diagnostic testing
• Monitor sedated and anesthetized patients before, during, and after procedures
• Obtain high-quality digital radiographs using proper positioning and safety techniques
• Calculate medication dosages accurately and administer medications through appropriate routes
• Maintain accurate medical records, including controlled drug documentation
• Recognize normal and abnormal patient parameters, including heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation
• Assist veterinarians with medical treatments, procedures, and emergency cases
• Educate and communicate compassionately with clients during stressful situations
• Help mentor less experienced team members and foster a positive, collaborative culture
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe hospital environment

We're Looking For Someone Who Has

• Minimum of 2 years of veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience (urgent care or emergency experience is a plus!)
• Excellent technical and patient care skills
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
• A calm, positive attitude in a fast-paced environment
• Outstanding communication and client service skills
• The ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail
• A team-first mindset and willingness to support fellow team members
• Passion for providing exceptional veterinary care

Job Details

Position: Part-Time Veterinary Technician/Assistant

Hours: 12-25 per week.

Our hours are Monday - Friday 2pm-10pm and Saturday-Sunday 10am-8pm. We are looking for someone who is available in the evenings during the week, and available for weekend shifts.
