Bakery - Back of House Manager

About the Role
A growing bakery and wholesale operation is seeking a Head of Production to lead the back of house team, oversee core production processes, develop staff, and maintain high quality standards.
This leader will manage the full production line from preparation through finishing, provide direct oversight to the team, and build systems that support consistent output at scale. The role is hands on in daily production while also focused on long term improvement, efficiency, and product development.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Oversight
- Lead and manage the entire BOH production team
- Establish clear expectations, accountability, and a consistent daily rhythm
- Maintain a steady presence during early morning operations
- Develop a strong, healthy team culture built on respect and clear communication
- Oversee coordination between production, prep, and support workflows
Production Management
- Oversee all major production processes from start to finish
- Maintain daily quality checks for consistency, timing, texture, and overall execution
- Ensure recipes, procedures, and production standards are followed with accuracy
- Troubleshoot issues and make real-time adjustments when needed
- Support the rollout of new or expanded product lines
Training and Staff Development
- Train all new production and prep staff
- Create step by step guides and repeatable systems
- Coach team members to improve speed, skill, and reliability
- Conduct performance evaluations and collaborate with ownership on staffing decisions
Product Development
- Collaborate on new specialty items and improvements to existing offerings
- Lead testing, documentation, and refinement of new products
- Balance creativity with practicality to support efficient, consistent production
Operations and Systems
- Oversee equipment use, documentation, and maintenance needs
- Plan schedules, staffing levels, and daily production sheets
- Monitor ingredient usage and inventory accuracy in partnership with the Kitchen Manager
- Support efficiency improvements without compromising quality
Who You Are
- Experienced in bakery or food production, ideally at high volume
- Skilled at leading teams and setting clear standards
- Organized, proactive, and consistent
- Comfortable managing both people and systems
- Detail-oriented with strong instincts for timing, texture, and quality
- A steady early morning presence who keeps operations on track
Schedule and Compensation
- Early morning start times required
- Full time role
- Compensation based on experience
