Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration units (including ammonia refrigeration), and other mechanical equipment.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and HVAC design plans to accurately diagnose issues and execute repairs.
- Conduct routine maintenance on HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning / Refrigeration) systems to ensure peak performance and compliance with safety standards.
- Perform plumbing tasks related to HVAC systems such as drainage, piping repairs, and component replacements.
- Utilize tools such as ohmmeters for electrical testing and welding equipment for metal fabrication or repairs.
- Diagnose electrical problems using schematics and mechanical knowledge; repair or replace faulty components efficiently.
- Operate a variety of field service vehicles safely as a
driver to reach job sites promptly. - Repair appliances related to property maintenance including air conditioning units, boilers, and other mechanical devices.
- Maintain detailed records of service activities, parts used, and system conditions; complete shift reports accurately.
- Collaborate with team members on complex projects involving HVAC design modifications or upgrades.
- Ensure all work complies with local codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards related to refrigerants such as ammonia or other chemicals used in refrigeration systems.
- Support property maintenance teams by providing expert advice on system improvements and preventative measures.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an HVAC Service Technician or in a similar field service role with construction or property maintenance backgrounds preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in equipment repair including boilers, refrigeration systems (including ammonia refrigeration), appliances, and HVAC units.
- Ability to read schematics, technical drawings, and HVAC design plans accurately.
- Knowledge of electrical testing tools such as ohmmeters; ability to troubleshoot electrical issues effectively.
- Experience working with HVAC/R systems in commercial or residential settings; familiarity with field service operations is essential.
- Valid ND driver’s license with a clean driving record;
driver certification preferred. - Knowledge of refrigerants regulation compliance including handling of ammonia refrigeration systems safely.
- Mechanical aptitude combined with problem-solving skills; ability to work independently or as part of a team under tight deadlines.
