Disability Claims Examiner

We are seeking a meticulous and compassionate professional to evaluate disability claims and ensure fair, timely decisions for those navigating life-altering challenges. If you’re passionate about upholding integrity, compliance, and care in every case, we’d love to hear from you.

• Primary Responsibilities
• Coordinate Disability benefits enrollment internally and with third-party insurer (currently Shelter Point)
• Manage Paid Family Leave (PFL) enrollment internally and with third-party insurer
• Input member data into internal systems to generate initial checks from the fund
• Send Disability and PFL packages to members
• Submit life insurance documentation to the insurance company; assist beneficiaries and coordinate with funeral parlors when needed
• Handle tax reporting between third-party insurers and bus companies
• Collaborate with Filing/Imaging and Pension departments to support cross-functional workloads

Secondary Responsibilities

• Manage liens and subrogation cases
• Operate imaging software for Welfare and Pension departments
• Scan and index documents as needed
• Assist with dental and medical inquiries
• Support additional fund-related tasks as assigned

Job Requirements

• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
• Excellent communication abilities
• Professional phone etiquette with members, beneficiaries, companies, and insurance providers
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
• Team-oriented and adaptable

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $20.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
