The Senior Accountant position will be responsible for Spanish Peaks Mountain Club’s timely and accurate internal financial reporting. This position will help ensure the general ledger is compliant with US GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles), manage month-end general ledger close and account reconciliation procedures, coordinate with the accounts payable and accounts receivable departments, support in cash management, and organize other financial accounting procedures, such as lodging, property management, payroll, and tax.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage and refine the daily, weekly, and monthly general ledger close procedures, ensuring complete and timely US GAAP-compliant monthly financial statements
• Conduct monthly and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations, effectively clearing reconciling items 
• With the support of the AP team, ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices and related vendor payments
• With support of the Membership Accountant, coordinate timely and accurate member statements and related member payment collections
• Support property management accounting, including owner statements, rental program reconciliations, and commission calculations 
• Coordinate with Lodging Manager to track occupancy, revenue per available room, and other key performance indicators
• Collaborate with both internal and external auditors to complete timely audits and refine accounting procedures after audit findings are shared
• Analyze and understand the Club’s cash balances to ensure best cash management procedures 
• Assist with Resort & Lodging Tax filings and reconciliations 
• Grow to become a subject matter expert in the TEI point-of-sale software functionality
• Support in the annual financial budget and routine financial forecast preparation by collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data
• Coordinate with finance and cross-functional teams to align on best financial practices including internal controls
• Provide ad hoc general ledger and project support, working to grow financial modeling skills
• Work directly with FP&A team and budget owners on financial reporting and monthly variances
• Assist various club inventory areas including, Retail, Golf, and F&B on their seasonal purchasing plans
• Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Required to have bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration
• Preferred to have 3 years of accounting or similar business-related experience
• Strong Microsoft Office proficiency, especially Excel and Word
• Data-focused, team-focused, detail-oriented, self-motivated with sense of urgency, analytical and organized to understand and resolve problems 
• Compelling verbal and written communication skills, with desire to build team and member relationships, while understanding and improving collective process
• TEI point of sale software experience is a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to sit for extended periods while performing computer-based work.
• Ability to frequently use hands and fingers to operate a computer, keyboard, calculator, telephone, and other standard office equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and via electronic communication.
• Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, and climb stairs while accessing various areas of the Club property.
• Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds, including office supplies, files, and boxes.
