General Summary:
A motivated, nationally certified pharmacy technician who has registered with the
Ohio State Board of Pharmacy (OSBP) to work under the supervision of a
Registered Pharmacist in accordance with applicable state and federal laws to
perform a variety of duties assisting the pharmacist.
Responsibilities:
- Fill Automated Dispensing Units and remove discontinued medications.
- Check for damaged and outdated IV fluids and medications in work area and remove outdated stock.
- Assure equipment for provision of patient care is available and in working order (e.g. crash carts, PARx hand helds, packager, and printers).
- Assure drugs in Pyxis in correct place.
- Prepare prescribed medications, including compounded formulations
and IV's. - Assure quality packaging, storage, safety, security, and distribution of medications.
- Train pharmacy technician trainees
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
- 18 years of age
- Possess a high school diploma or GED
- Pass approved criminal background checks
- Completed a Ohio State Board of Pharmacy approved training program
(if required) - National pharmacy technician certification: Certified Pharmacy Technician Board (PTCB) or Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT)
- Registered with the OSBP as a certified pharmacy technician
- Read, write, perform arithmetic calculations and follow verbal or
written instructions - Basic computer skills and other common office equipment.
- Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with pharmacy, nursing,
and other healthcare employees. - Analytic ability to perform assigned tasks.
- LMH is accredited by DNV and TJC, and as such, may require specific annual education related to specialty certifications and standards.
