Position Summary
Transport and clean cooking utensils and service ware in order to provide cooks, bussers and food servers with the appropriate equipment for guests’ dining experience. Also requires cleaning of physical surroundings. Assist the Executive Steward with daily supervision and direction of stewarding staff.
Example of Duties
Essential Functions
- Promptly and carefully sort soiled silverware so that it can be put through the dish machine properly. Quickly wash all ware and replace in storage areas.
- Keep dish machine properly cleaned and filled with water per hotel standards.
- Operate burnishing machine to ensure proper finish on silverware.
- De-tarnish/polish silverware for proper appearance.
- Clean kettles, tilt skillets, pots and pan promptly and completely so cooks can carry out their work.
- DE lime dish machine twice a week.
- Ability to make decisions in stressful situations.
Supportive Functions
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions.
- Performs general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by your supervisor to adhere to health standards.
- Keep floors dry and clean to avoid slip/fall accidents.
- Performs other duties as requested, such as, cross-training, moving supplies and equipment, cleaning up spills, etc.
- Report any suspicious persons or activity to a supervisor immediately.
- Perform and direct staff in a productive manner.
- Always ready to assist staff in heavy volume.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities to be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
- Knowledge of service ware and how to maintain same in order to compliment guest experience.
- Ability to push/pull service carts weighing up to 500 pounds.
- Ability to read and understand the English language so as to fully comprehend job requests, caution notices and similar written materials.
- Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry, or otherwise, move or push goods on a hand cart/truck weighing up to 150 pounds.
- Ability to perform duties within extreme temperature ranges.
- Knowledge of chemicals and use of.
