Data Architect

As a logistics organization, our supply chain technology - especially the differentiating technology we choose to build - provides the foundation upon which we deliver our services and is critical to both our effectiveness and our sustained leadership position in the industry. This hands-on position requires a knowledge of technology that is relatively broad but especially deep. A strong understanding of multifaceted applications that includes native mobile apps, web applications, and API and queue-based integrations as well as persistent, relational data storage is essential. This is a critical role in that journey, and it will require someone who has a true passion for application design, implementation, and operational efficiency. The Data Architect will develop database solutions to ensure company information is stored effectively and securely. This person will analyze system requirements, implement migration methods for data (both new and existing), and they'll be responsible for the design/organization of several databases. Additional duties include the managing, monitoring, and maintaining company databases as well as the design of how the data will be persisted. They will collaborate with engineering teams to support the development cycle from design of schema through deployment and CI pipelines. Primary Responsibilities: Analyzing structural requirements for new software and applications Set and maintain database standards Manage database access Performance tuning of database systems Install, upgrade, and manage database applications and dependencies Design of new and updates to database schema and tables Manage and approve database migration scripts executed during CI pipeline Collaborate with engineering team and advise on data design Skills & Qualifications: 7 years of direct software development experience or development operations experience, with at least 4 years spent designing and executing database management University degree in computer science or software engineering and/or >5 years of relevant work experience Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to explain technical concepts to business leaders Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL Experience designing and supporting NoSQL databases (such as Mongo) Experience collaborating with product managers, technical teams, and infrastructure teams to provide platform-related knowledge Experience designing and support caching stores (such as Redis) Preferred experience with AWS & RDS Preferred experience with REST Preferred experience with Git Ops principles and practices Be willing and able to travel occasionally (<1 week per month) Having knowledge of supply chain concepts and associated technologies including WMS, TMS, YMS, and related systems (preferred) Why Lineage?
