POSITION OVERVIEW: As a Graduate Engineer II at LJA Land Development, you will be responsible for performing entry-level professional engineering work involving the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out routine engineering tasks under close supervision. You will support project teams by performing design calculations, preparing plans and specifications, and assisting with the development of water and wastewater plant projects. This role provides hands-on experience and the opportunity to work closely with senior engineers to advance your technical and professional growth.
A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:
- Applying prescribed methods to complete limited and specific portions of broader assignments under the direction of an experienced engineer.
- Performing water and wastewater plant design calculations, plan preparation, specifications, and quantity take-offs.
- Adjusting and correlating data to ensure accuracy and consistency across project tasks.
- Recognizing discrepancies in results and following operations through a series of detailed steps or processes.
- Exercising limited judgment in making preliminary method selections and adopting alternatives.
- Collaborating with team members to support project deadlines and deliverables.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering required.
- Certified Engineer-in-Training (EIT) required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2 years of post-graduate experience in detailed civil design of land development water and wastewater facilities including sanitary lift stations, water plants, and wastewater treatment plants, or a Master’s degree with 1 year of experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build strong relationships and work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
IDEALLY, YOU SHOULD ALSO HAVE:
- Experience using AutoCAD for detailed civil design of land development water and wastewater facilities.
- Familiarity with Dallas-area agency approval processes.
