POSITION OVERVIEW: As a Fleet Maintenance Specialist at LJA Business Solutions, you will be the first line of defense when our vehicles and equipment are sidelined, ensuring reliability, safety, and compliance across a diverse fleet. You will own the process from driver call to completed repair — diagnosing problems, guiding field personnel through solutions, coordinating with vendors, and making critical decisions that directly impact safety and operational readiness. 

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:

• Taking urgent calls from drivers experiencing truck or trailer issues and providing immediate, compliant guidance 
• Diagnosing breakdowns remotely and determining the most effective path forward 
• Reviewing detailed repair estimates and collision repair assessments for accuracy and cost-effectiveness 
• Opening, updating, and closing work orders with precision, documenting status, vendor information, and completion timelines 
• Coordinating with vendors and repair facilities to keep downtime to an absolute minimum 
• Collaborating with Fleet Specialists and the Fleet Manager to ensure the right long-term decisions are made on repairs versus replacements 
• Monitoring recurring issues and preventative maintenance needs to strengthen fleet reliability 
• Enforcing safety standards and compliance requirements in every maintenance action 

REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent 
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 3 years of experience in fleet maintenance including hands-on mechanic work 
• Strong diagnostic, problem-solving, and communication skills 
• Proficiency with fleet management software 
• Experience reviewing work orders and estimates 
• Willingness and ability to: 
  • Travel occasionally (0-15%) to support fleet needs 
  • Sit or stand for extended periods, move throughout office environments, and lift up to 50 lbs. when supporting departmental operations 
  • Pass background checks, drug screenings, and maintain ongoing eligibility for company travel and security access 

IDEALLY, YOU SHOULD ALSO HAVE:

• ASE certification 
• Experience as a claims adjuster or repair estimator 
• Background working in a fleet department with both light-duty and heavy-duty assets 
• Familiarity with telematics systems and preventative maintenance scheduling tools 
• A reputation for being resourceful, decisive, and relentless in keeping equipment operational
