Job description:
A Pipe Welder is responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining piping systems by welding metal pipes using various techniques such as TIG, MIG, stick, and X-ray welds. This role requires precision, safety awareness, and the ability to read and interpret technical blueprints.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and project plans.
- Measure, cut, and shape pipes using hand and power tools.
- Weld, braze, or solder pipes and fittings using TIG, MIG, stick, and X-ray welding inspections
- Perform welds that meet radiographic inspection standards (X-ray quality).
- Inspect and test welds to ensure structural soundness and compliance with specifications.
- Maintain and repair welding equipment and tools.
- Follow all safety protocols, including the use of PPE and proper ventilation.
- Collaborate with other trades and team members to ensure project efficiency.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a welding apprenticeship or vocational training program preferred.
- Certification in pipe welding (e.g., AWS, ASME) is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional welding experience, including pipe welding.
- Experience with X-ray weld inspections and radiographic testing standards preferred
- Proficiency in TIG, MIG, stick, and X-ray inspections.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
- Strong attention to detail and safety.
- Must successfully complete a weld test prior to employment.
