Job Overview
This position protects the city's residents and property and enforces laws and ordinances. Duties include patrolling assigned areas, which will mainly include schools. May respond to emergency calls and routine complaints, taking appropriate action. Patrol school district property to protect all students, personnel, and visitors from physical harm and prevent property loss due to theft and vandalism.
Duties
- Regular and timely attendance at work.
- Patrol assigned area by vehicle or foot.
- Respond to emergency calls and routine complaints.
- Direct and escort traffic as needed.
- Investigate traffic accidents and crimes against persons or property.
- Question witnesses, complainants, and suspects.
- Serve warrants and make arrests.
- Keep records of activities and make reports concerning crimes, complaints, accidents, and investigations.
- Appear in court as needed.
- Collect and preserve evidence for criminal investigations.
- Resolves conflict or confrontation between students and reports disturbances to appropriate staff.
- Assists city, state, county, and federal law enforcement agencies as needed.
Experience
- Proven experience in law enforcement, especially school based law enforcement, is preferred but not required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- US Citizenship
- TCOLE license
- Valid Texas drivers license
