POSITION SUMMARY:
MA- Provides professional nursing needs of clinic patients following established standards and practices.
Referrals- Obtains patient information, insurance information, and authorization required for proper patient treatment and referrals.
Clinic Coordinator- Responsible for appointments, insurance verification, and registration of all patients and visits. Also responsible for telephone calls.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITIES:
MA
- Performs general nursing care to patients
- Prepares equipment and aids providers during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
- Dispenses medication as directed
- Maintains and reviews patients records and charts
- Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies and materials. Ensures cleanliness
- Maintains patient confidentiality
- Blood draws per provider’s order
- Performs EKGs
- Removes sutures and performs dressing changes
- Orders supplies as needed
Referrals
- Process provider referral orders
- Obtain insurance authorizations
- Make copies of various forms when required
- Documents all interactions in patient chart
- Obtain contact with patients about appointments after referrals or authorizations are done
Clinic Coordinator
- Register patients in EMR system
Position: Clinic Assistant
- Schedule appointments
- Check patients in once they have arrived/Check patients out after appointment
- Scan in photo id and insurance cards
- Accept and post payments
- Familiarize yourself with insurance/billing
- Answer phone calls
- Take messages
- Scan in documents
- Provide forms to patients
OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
High school graduate or equivalent work experience including ability to read, write, and comprehend medical terminology. Computer proficiency recommended. Must be highly motivated and have the ability to perform multiple tasks with a minimal amount of supervision. Must have excellent communication and human relation skills.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, ABILITIES):
CPR Required for all staff (will provide class)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 100 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions. Requires working around exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Well lighted environmentally controlled office setting. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
