JOB SUMMARY:
The Midlevel Psychiatric Provider is a provider of direct mental health care services at Livingston HealthCare, an integrated behavioral health practice made up of medical health professionals including: LCSWs, Psychiatrists, and Family Medicine Physicians. Within this role the Midlevel Psychiatric Provider synthesizes theoretical, scientific, and clinical knowledge for the assessment and management of both health and illness states. These competencies incorporate the health promotion, health protection, disease prevention and treatment focus of midlevel psychiatric provider practice.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Midlevel Psychiatric Provider provides psychiatric care through diagnosis, clinical judgment, and management to restore, maintain, and improve mental health status in accordance with practice policies and scope of practice, including:
- Assessment of physical, emotional, and developmental status of the individual and family.
- Prescribes psychotropic and related medications based on clinical indicators of a patient's status; to treat symptoms of psychiatric disorders and improve functional health status.
- Counseling and client advocacy; provides psychoeducation to patients, families, and groups to promote knowledge, understanding, and effective management of mental health problems and psychiatric disorders.
- Demonstrating sensitivity in addressing topics such as, but not limited to, sexuality, substance abuse, violence, and risk-taking behaviors.
- Collaborates as a member of the interdisciplinary mental health and other health care team(s) providing patient centered care.
- Provides consultation to health care providers and others to enhance quality and cost-effective services for patients and to effect change in organizational systems.
- Managing psychiatric emergencies by determining the level of risk and initiating and coordinating effective emergency care.

- Reports directly to physician when required.

QUALIFICATIONS (Required):
- Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current, unrestricted Montana state license to practice as a midlevel provider. Maintains BLS and ACLS.
- Experienced Psychiatric Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with at least one year of treating patients in a clinical setting.
- Ability to organize personal work and maintain patient flow, ability to give sound guidance and direction to others involved in care of patients. Ability to work independently and autonomously. Ability to make good decisions. Critical listening skills and ability to communicate clearly. Commitment to update skills constantly and proficient use if resources. Desire to work with all types of people and work as a team member. Good interpersonal skills. Good eye/hand coordination and precision. Ability to observe differences in shapes and color. Basic computer skills required.
ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experienced Psychiatric Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with two plus years of experience, treating patients in a clinical setting.
- Familiarity working in an Integrated Behavioral Health program.
