What are the responsibilities and job description for the Compliance Officer position at Livingston County?
- Oversees the implementation and effectiveness of the Livingston County Compliance Program and serves as the Chairperson for the Livingston County Compliance Committee;
- Oversees County compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA) and serves as the Chairperson for the Livingston County Safety Committee;
- Assists County departments with regulatory compliance related to the New York Medicaid Program and healthcare statutes such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA);
- Oversees the Livingston County Workers Compensation Program;
- Monitors the County confidential compliance hotline and responds appropriately;
- Researches and stays updated on relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to compliance matters;
- Maintains knowledge of emerging trends and best practices in government compliance;
- Develops, initiates, maintains, and revises policies and procedures for the general operation of the Livingston County Compliance Plan to be consistent with the expectations of regulatory agencies;
- Develops,revises,andmaintainsprocessestorespondtoandtrackreportsofalleged violations of the Livingston County Compliance Plan;
- As set forth in the Livingston County Compliance Plan, investigates reported violations of laws, regulations, or internal policies related to federal, state, and local mandated programs;
- Develops and implements corrective action plans related to compliance matters, and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future;
- Maintains documentation of compliance activities and findings;
- Conducts periodic risk assessments to identify potential areas of non-compliance under the Livingston County Compliance Plan;
- Designs and conducts training programs for County employees on compliance matters as needed;
- Consults with the County Attorney as needed to resolve legal compliance issues;
- As directed, develops information for the public about county compliance efforts;
- Responds to inquiries from the public about county compliance policies and procedures;
- Works with County department leaders to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations;
- Participates in professional development opportunities related to government compliance; and
- Performs other duties as assigned.

An individual who receives a provisional appointment must take the examination for the position title on the next occasion it is offered. In order to be eligible for a permanent appointment to the position, the provisional appointee must pass the exam and be ranked 1, 2, 3, or be tied in score with the individual ranked number 3 of those who are willing to accept appointment to the position. It should be understood that even if the provisional appointee is eligible for appointment, the employer may choose another candidate to fill the position on a permanent basis. Salary : $80,000 - $90,000
