Role Description This full-time, on-site Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant role is based in Walnut Creek, CA. The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant collaborates with occupational therapists to implement individualized treatment plans for residents in assisted living, memory care, and independent living communities. Day-to-day responsibilities include providing hands-on therapeutic interventions, supporting activities of daily living, documenting progress, and communicating with the interdisciplinary care team. The role involves educating residents and families on safety, adaptive equipment, and strategies to promote independence and quality of life. The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant also contributes to wellness initiatives and may assist with group programs that address mobility, fall prevention, and cognitive engagement.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Occupational Therapy and Rehabilitation, including the ability to carry out treatment plans and therapeutic activities under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist.
- Demonstrated competence in Patient Care and Home Care, with a focus on resident-centered support, safety, and comfort within assisted living and related community settings.
- Experience or interest in Program Development, including contributing to wellness programs, group activities, and proactive interventions that promote independence and mobility.
- Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) and active state licensure in California, or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to start date.
- Effective communication and documentation skills, with the ability to collaborate with physicians, therapists, nursing staff, residents, and families.
- Ability to work independently, manage a caseload, and adapt to changing resident needs in a fast-paced community environment.
- Prior experience in senior living, memory care, or similar settings is preferred but not required.
