What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Service Electrician position at Livewire Logic?
About the Position
Livewire Logic is seeking an experienced Commercial Service Electrician to join our Service Division.
This position is geared toward an electrician who enjoys troubleshooting, problem-solving, customer interaction, and the variety that comes with commercial and industrial service work.
Unlike a traditional construction position where an electrician may remain on the same project for weeks or months, our Service Electricians may handle multiple customers, facilities, and electrical systems throughout the week. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, diagnosing problems, developing solutions, communicating with customers, and completing repairs efficiently and professionally.
Service calls may include electrical troubleshooting, equipment power issues, lighting and controls, circuits and feeders, disconnects, motors, contactors, receptacles, breakers, low-voltage/interface wiring, equipment replacements, and smaller electrical installations or modifications.
Duties
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems in commercial and industrial facilities.
- Independently evaluate service calls, determine the cause of electrical issues, and develop an appropriate repair plan.
- Perform electrical repairs, replacements, modifications, and smaller installations in accordance with the National Electrical Code, local requirements, and company standards.
- Troubleshoot electrical circuits, breakers, disconnects, contactors, relays, motors, lighting systems, controls, receptacles, equipment connections, and related electrical systems.
- Use electrical testing equipment including multimeters, clamp meters, insulation resistance testers, and other diagnostic tools as appropriate.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, equipment diagrams, specifications, and manufacturer documentation.
- Identify additional electrical deficiencies or safety concerns discovered while performing service work and clearly communicate those findings.
- Determine material and equipment needs for assigned service calls and coordinate material procurement when necessary.
- Maintain an organized company service vehicle and appropriate service material inventory.
- Communicate professionally with customers, facility personnel, managers, vendors, and other trades.
- Clearly explain electrical problems and recommended solutions to customers when appropriate.
- Complete service documentation describing the problem found, troubleshooting performed, repairs completed, materials used, and any recommended follow-up work.
- Work efficiently and independently while knowing when additional technical assistance or manpower is required.
- Assist with small projects, equipment replacements, electrical upgrades, and other Service Division work as needed.
- Maintain workmanship that meets Livewire Logic standards as well as applicable building, electrical, and safety requirements.
- Follow company safety procedures and OSHA requirements at all times.
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and applicable local codes.
- Ability to safely troubleshoot energized electrical systems when appropriate and permitted by company safety procedures.
- Proficiency using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics, and equipment documentation.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet company insurance requirements for operation of a company vehicle.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and regularly work from ladders.
- Ability to travel throughout the Richmond and Central Virginia service area.
