Role Overview: A Surgical Technologist supports surgical procedures by assisting surgeons, preparing sterile equipment, and maintaining aseptic techniques in a clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with patient care and coordinate treatments with multidisciplinary teams.
- Prepare operating rooms, connect clinical equipment, and ensure aseptic setup.
- Participate in surgical time-outs, site verification, and supply management.
- Handle specimens, dispose of sharps and linens, and assist with wound dressing.
- Maintain universal precautions, initiate emergency procedures, and perform quality control.
- Support admission/discharge processes, billing, and post-mortem care as needed.
- Serve as a preceptor for students and adhere to policies and protocols.
- Perform additional duties like specimen collection, patient transport, and set up for procedures.
Qualifications & Skills: Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or eligible per state law. Completion of a specialty training program is required.
