Role Overview: Radiologic Technologists perform diagnostic, therapeutic, and research imaging procedures using ionizing radiation. They independently conduct radiographic and fluoroscopic exams, ensuring proper patient identification, preparation, and safety while adhering to ALARA principles. They evaluate image quality, assist licensed practitioners, administer medications when prescribed, and document radiation exposure and activities in compliance with regulations. They also educate and monitor students and healthcare providers, supporting procedures outside the Radiology Department such as in the operating room or ICU.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct patient orders, verify identity, and document clinical history confidentially.
- Utilize appropriate protocols, optimize technical factors, and ensure patient safety.
- Prepare and administer medications via vascular access as prescribed.
- Evaluate images for quality, proper positioning, and proper data transfer or storage.
- Support and educate students and healthcare team members.
- Assist with fluoroscopic and specialized procedures as needed.
Qualifications & Skills: Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology; ARRT-R registry within six months for new graduates; ability to perform radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures; knowledge of radiation safety and patient care; effective communication and teamwork skills. Continuing education or advancement to level 2 may be required.
