Live Oak Veterinary Specialists are looking for an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), for a specialty clinic, who will provide skilled nursing care and clinical support to veterinarians while ensuring compassionate care for patients and exceptional service for clients. RVTs perform medical, surgical, laboratory, anesthesia, and patient-care duties in accordance with state veterinary practice regulations and hospital protocols. We are seeking compassionate, motivated veterinary professionals who are passionate about patient care, teamwork, and delivering exceptional veterinary medicine in a supportive environment.
Patient Care
- Obtain patient histories and vital signs
- Assist veterinarians with examinations and treatments
- Monitor hospitalized patients and maintain accurate medical records
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed
- Provide nursing care, wound management, and patient monitoring
Anesthesia & Surgery
- Prepare surgical suites and sterile instruments
- Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia patients
- Monitor ECG, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, temperature, and respiration during procedures
- Assist veterinarians during surgery and emergency procedures
Laboratory & Diagnostic Procedures
- Collect blood, urine, fecal, and cytology samples
- Perform in-house laboratory testing and diagnostics
- Take and develop radiographs
- Maintain laboratory equipment and quality control standards
Client Communication
- Educate clients on medications, treatments, preventive care, and post-operative instructions
- Provide compassionate communication regarding patient status and care plans
- Support client retention through excellent customer service
Hospital Operations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment and exam areas
- Follow OSHA, radiation safety, controlled substance, and infection-control protocols
- Assist with inventory management and stocking supplies
- Support a collaborative and positive team culture
Qualifications
- Active RVT credential (Required)
- High School Graduate
- Graduate of an accredited veterinary technology program
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, anesthesia, pharmacology, and patient care
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Emergency and specialty experience preferred but not required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout scheduled shifts
- Ability to safely lift and restrain animals weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance available for larger patients
- Ability to safely handle animals of varying sizes, breeds, and temperaments
- Manual dexterity sufficient for venipuncture, anesthesia monitoring, radiology positioning, laboratory procedures, and other technical skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical and surgical environment
- Ability to move equipment, cages, and hospitalized patients safely
- Ability to observe patient conditions closely and respond quickly in emergency situations
- Comfortable working around anesthesia, surgery, radiology, animal waste, cleaning chemicals, and infectious diseases
- Ability to work flexible hours including occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed
- Ability to maintain professionalism and composure during stressful or emergency situations
Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
