Live Oak Engineering is continuing to expand, and we are looking for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our Jacksonville team.
A Senior Civil Engineer at Live Oak Engineering (LOE) should be a critical thinker and have a sound subject knowledge of mathematics and physics to identify and solve engineering problems. Possessing an elevated level of creativity and industry exposure in order to present innovative design solutions and improvements is a must. The successful candidate will be able to effectively communicate ideas, make recommendations, and direct both EIT’s and entry level engineers in delivering work product to specification. A Senior Civil Engineer should be adept in negotiating project details with co-workers, subcontractors, and clients while working to meet deadlines on multiple projects.
Department Head: Exceptional skills in client acquisition, retention and development are needed in focusing / leading the engineering staff. Essential Functions:
- Directing and Developing detailed designs in keeping with overall project goal / specifications.
- Generating feasibility assessments and conducting site inspections.
- Preparing and implementing project plans.
- Researching and providing estimates for projects.
- Reviewing government regulations and ordinances.
- Monitoring and optimizing safety procedures, production processes, and regulatory compliance.
- Making recommendations or presenting alternative solutions to problems.
- Confidently collaborating with clients and other professional subcontractors.
- Project management duties (e.g. managing budgets, resources, and deadlines; acquiring and compiling quotes, etc.).
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Exceptional organizational skills and impeccable attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills to ensure project deadlines are met.
- Solid competency in advanced mathematics, general engineering practices, and industry best practices.
- Knowledge of industry, engineering, math and best CADD practices.
- Knowledge of map creation software and photo imaging software.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking skills; high level of accuracy in calculations / design.
- Stay up to date on the latest, emerging industry standards.
- High level proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ITPR (drainage) and other project scheduling software
- High degree of professionalism in dealing with diverse groups of people, including co-workers, managers and senior leadership.
- Strong inbound and outbound communication skills.
- Able to coordinate and manage more than one project at a time.
- Able to react with appropriate levels of urgency to situations and events that require quick response or turnaround.
- Able to maintain an elevated level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential or sensitive information.
- Able to understand/interpret technical drawings (plans, elevations, sections, details).
- Able to collaborate with others to solve problems.
- Able to independently organize/orchestrate a high volume of tasks associated with projects.
- Leadership skills to effectively manage a diverse group of professionals working on one project.

Civil Engineer Goal Focus:

Minimum Education / Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field, accredited by the Institution of Civil Engineers.
- Registration/Licensure as a Professional Engineer.
- A minimum of ten years’ experience.
- Experience with client relations, generation and retention best practices.

- Type: Regular Full Time, Exempt (non-hourly)
- Report to: Senior > Department Head > CEO
- Location: In Office
- Travel (Senior): Limited, most often local.
- Travel (Dept Head): Moderate, local and regional.
