Role Description The Civil Engineering Intern will support project engineers in the Greater Birmingham, Alabama Area by assisting with design, analysis, and documentation for structural and civil engineering projects. Day-to-day tasks include preparing drawings and basic calculations, helping with site evaluations, gathering and organizing project data, and contributing to water resource and site development studies under supervision. The intern will collaborate with team members to ensure accurate, timely deliverables and may assist with project coordination, permitting documentation, and quality checks on plans. This is a full-time, on-site role that provides hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to a wide range of commercial and institutional projects.
Qualifications
- Civil Engineering and Civil Engineering Design skills, with foundational knowledge of structural and site design principles.
- Water Resource Management skills, including basic understanding of hydrology, drainage design, and stormwater systems.
- Project Management skills to support scheduling, task tracking, and coordination of project documentation.
- Strong Communication skills for collaborating with engineers, design staff, and external stakeholders.
- Enrollment in or completion of a bachelor’s degree program in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
- Familiarity with engineering software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or civil design software) is preferred.
