Instructional Assistant for Integrated Preschool Classroom
Gateway Regional School District is looking for a dynamic early childhood Instructional Assistant to work in the integrated preschool classroom located at Littleville Elementary school.
The ideal candidate will be energetic, caring and be able to work as a team player.
Responsibilities include:
- Working with students with limited academic, behavioral and social skills and supporting young children with a broad range of abilities, including students with disabilities.
- Promoting independence, social skills, and language development
- Willingness to be flexible with job duties
- Ability to take feedback and instruction from classroom teacher and therapists
- Professionalism around confidentiality
- Ability to get up and down from the ground frequently throughout the day
- Assisting with toilet training and diaper changing
- Supervision of outdoor activities
- Limited cleaning and disinfection of the classroom; especially with snack set up
- Willingness to learn
- You may need to perform some additional duties such as supervision of recess, bus duty, etc.
- This individual will provide coverage across two programs to ensure students with disabilities have the appropriate amount of support and services
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree or higher preferred
- Coursework in early childhood education preferred
- Experience working with young children both with and without disabilities preferred
- Experience with or knowledge of children with Autism preferred
- Knowledge of sign language is a plus although not necessary
- Salary Range: $18.24-$29.18 dependent upon education, experience, and placement.
