Duties
- Assist veterinarians with diagnostic procedures, including X-ray imaging, laboratory testing, and critical care interventions.
- Provide animal restraint and handling using proper techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff.
- Perform laboratory work such as blood draws, sample processing, and other diagnostic tests to aid in accurate diagnosis.
- Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures like catheterization, wound management, and medication administration.
- Monitor hospitalized animals closely, providing routine nursing care such as administering medications and maintaining cleanliness.
- Handle kennel duties including cleaning, feeding, and monitoring animals’ behavior to ensure a safe environment.
- Utilize veterinary terminology accurately when documenting patient records and communicating with team members.
Qualifications
- Prior veterinary technician experience
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and pet care practices.
- Experience with animal husbandry and veterinary critical care procedures.
- Laboratory experience including sample collection and analysis; X-ray proficiency is highly desirable.
- Confident animal handling and restraint methods.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively within a fast-paced urgent care setting. Pay: $20.00 - $32.00 per hour
