This hybrid positionis based in Kansas City, MO with an onsite expectation of once per month.
Responsibilities
- Own the portfolio metrics framework, maintaining six-dimension cost scores across the portfolio and refreshing quarterly to surface where products are unexpectedly expensive.
- Own the data packet behind the monthly portfolio update — what shipped, what got displaced, and where the portfolio stands — that the Sr. Director signs and presents to firm leadership.
- Own the Quarterly Product Review (QPR) data packet, aggregating cost scores, outcome measurements, and lifecycle classifications into a format business owners can use to make Invest / Maintain / Revamp / Sunset decisions.
- Own the displacement log, capturing every time urgent work pulls a developer off a planned initiative and surfacing the cumulative cost in monthly and quarterly reports.
- Own product scorecards across the portfolio, keeping cost score, lifecycle tier, outcome metrics, and trend data current and defensible.
- Establish self-service dashboards in the firm’s portfolio management application and in Power BI, replacing manual reporting as the data infrastructure matures.
- Administer the firm’s Jira and Jira Service Management (JSM) instances for the Release Management department: configure projects, workflows, custom fields, JQL filters, automation rules, dashboards, and permission schemes; maintain the #Projects intake project; ensure Jira data feeds the portfolio metrics cleanly.
- Drive data-quality discipline across lookup tables, classifications, and scoring, ensuring every conclusion drawn from portfolio data is defensible.
- Partner with Product Managers on outcome measurement, helping them define success criteria ahead of launch and read results at 30, 60, and 90 days.
- Coordinate cost and outcome data for AI-enabled products with the firm’s AI department, so a product’s full picture (adoption, cost, and outcome alongside the AI department’s answer-quality and evaluation metrics) is visible in scorecards and the Quarterly Product Review (QPR).
- Establish requirements documentation and traceability for portfolio data and reporting projects, ensuring every report can be reproduced and every metric can be sourced.
- Communicate across multiple levels — Sr. Director, Product Managers, and firm leadership — producing the monthly report data packet and QPR data packet at presentation quality.
TECHNICAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
- Experience with requirements analysis, business analysis, metrics definition, and reporting.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of products and with Structured Query Language (SQL) required: ability to write joins across multiple tables, build CTEs, and read an execution plan well enough to know when a query is too slow.
- Proficiency with Power BI, Excel, or comparable tooling: pivot tables, DAX, and clean visualization design.
- Demonstrated understanding of all phases of SDLC.
- Hands-on Jira and Jira Service Management (JSM) administration: configure projects, workflows, custom fields, JQL filters, automation rules, dashboards, and permission schemes. Confluence administration is a plus.
- Prior experience in an Agile environment.
- Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
- Strong written communication: concise, specific, and evidence-led.
- Comfort with ambiguity: many of the metrics this role builds do not exist yet; you will be shaping them, not maintaining a turnkey system.
- Highly self-motivated and self-directed.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Prior legal industry experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of AI-enabled analytics workflows (e.g. Claude, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT) is a plus.
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in business, information systems, finance, statistics, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Preferred: Relevant analytics certifications (CBAP, IIBA, or equivalent).
- Minimum 5 years of business analysis, data analysis, or analytical product operations experience.
