Background
For 45 years, Little Tokyo Service Center (LTSC) has provided a safety net of social welfare and community development services to empower people and communities in need. LTSC provides culturally and linguistically appropriate services to the Japanese American community in the Southland, builds multi-family affordable housing projects to uplift low-income neighborhoods of color throughout Los Angeles, and promotes equitable development and cultural preservation in the Little Tokyo neighborhood.

Summary of Duties
The Staff Accountant, reporting to the Financial Controller, plays a key role in the day-to-day financial operations of LTSC CDC and its affiliated entities within the Property Management portfolio. This position also supports year-end audit and tax return preparation by providing accurate and timely financial data. As part of a dynamic and collaborative team, the Staff Accountant will contribute to a mission-driven organization committed to community impact. Responsibilities
- Review, prepare, and/or correct (as needed) invoice coding and incoming deposits (checks and wires) within required timeframe.
- Process accounts payable within assigned portfolio
- Prepare financial statements and maintain a robust understanding of assigned portfolio as well as other portfolios within assigned department
- Identify errors and/or trends in accounting data and proactively initiate regular communication with appropriate parties to resolve errors and facilitate solutions
- Assist with reconciling differences between A/P or A/R modules and G/L module
- Prepare monthly invoicing for various grant contracts, ensuring that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period
- Assist in preparation and review of audits and tax returns
- Reconciling property software (MRI) with Sage Intacct
- Issue 1099's for LTSC CDC and properties within assigned portfolio
- Assist with building processes and procedures for responsibilities, including developing SOPs
- Other duties as may be assigned by your supervisor
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelors degree preferred
- Basic understanding of GAAP, determining closing and adjusting entries
- Basic understanding of reading and analyzing Income Statements and Balance Sheets
- 2-3 years experience in bookkeeping and working with Sage Intacct or other cost-accounting software
- Experience in preparing schedules and documents for audits
- High proficiency in Excel
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Highly organized, with a strong attention to detail and able to effectively manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
- Desire to work with a community-based non-profit organization in a multi-cultural environment
