What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian position at Little Tigers Learning Center?
Role and Responsibilities
- Provide routine cleaning and sanitation services for the entire facility to include internal, external and restroom sanitation.
- Provide routine maintenance on equipment (change light bulbs/lamps, replace ceiling tiles, etc)
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation standards, including those related to childcare environments.
- Follow Health and Safety standards for use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Safe handling and use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and according to instructions.
- Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or needed repairs to the supervisor.
- Secure cleaning supplies and equipment to ensure child safety.
- Support special events by setting up or cleaning up as needed.
- Maintain a positive, professional attitude while working around children, families, and staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Program Director and/or Administrator
Leadership Potential - Manager Role and Responsibilities
- Train, supervise, and support custodial staff to ensure high standards of cleanliness and safety.
- Create and manage daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning and deep-cleaning schedules for the entire facility.
- Monitor and maintain custodial equipment, including routine inspections and coordinating repairs as needed.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Have a driver’s license
- Be able to pass a background check for childcare licensing requirements
- Complete online safety trainings as required for childcare licensing
- Prior custodial or janitorial experience preferred, especially in schools or childcare settings.
- Knowledge of safe cleaning practices and proper chemical handling.
- Ability to work independently and follow established routines.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for children.
- Reliability, punctuality, and strong attention to detail.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
- Be able to lift 25‐50 lbs, walk, squat/kneel, and sit on the floor
- Be able to stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Be able to raise objects from a lower to higher location or moving objects horizontally from one location to another
Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour
