Custodian

Role and Responsibilities

• Provide routine cleaning and sanitation services for the entire facility to include internal, external and restroom sanitation.
• Provide routine maintenance on equipment (change light bulbs/lamps, replace ceiling tiles, etc)
• Follow all health, safety, and sanitation standards, including those related to childcare environments.
• Follow Health and Safety standards for use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Safe handling and use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and according to instructions.
• Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or needed repairs to the supervisor.
• Secure cleaning supplies and equipment to ensure child safety.
• Support special events by setting up or cleaning up as needed.
• Maintain a positive, professional attitude while working around children, families, and staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Program Director and/or Administrator

Leadership Potential - Manager Role and Responsibilities

• Train, supervise, and support custodial staff to ensure high standards of cleanliness and safety.
• Create and manage daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning and deep-cleaning schedules for the entire facility.
• Monitor and maintain custodial equipment, including routine inspections and coordinating repairs as needed.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age
• Have a driver’s license
• Be able to pass a background check for childcare licensing requirements
• Complete online safety trainings as required for childcare licensing
• Prior custodial or janitorial experience preferred, especially in schools or childcare settings.
• Knowledge of safe cleaning practices and proper chemical handling.
• Ability to work independently and follow established routines.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for children.
• Reliability, punctuality, and strong attention to detail.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

• Be able to lift 25‐50 lbs, walk, squat/kneel, and sit on the floor
• Be able to stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
• Be able to raise objects from a lower to higher location or moving objects horizontally from one location to another

Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour
