Little Sunflowers Child Care is seeking a reliable, nurturing, and responsible assistant and/or substitute caregiver to join our OCFS licensed Group Family Daycare located in the village of Cobleskill, NY.

We are a small, home-based program that takes pride in providing a safe, structured, and loving environment where children can learn, play, and grow. We are looking for someone who is patient, dependable, and genuinely enjoys working with young children.

The substitute position is as-needed to cover staff absences, appointments, training days, or occasional schedule changes, offering flexibility for those looking for part-time or occasional work.

The assistant position is full-time, offering a consistent schedule and a key role in supporting daily routines, activities, and the overall flow of the daycare. This position is ideal for someone looking for a stable role in a positive and supportive childcare environment.

✨ Responsibilities

• Provide attentive supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times
• Assist with daily routines including meals, snacks, diapering/toileting, and nap time
• Engage children in age-appropriate activities, including play, crafts, and learning experiences
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary environment in accordance with NYS OCFS regulations
• Support a structured daily schedule while remaining flexible to children’s needs
• Use positive guidance techniques to support children’s social and emotional development
• Communicate respectfully and professionally with the provider, children, and families
• Follow all health, safety, and licensing requirements
• Assist with general daily tasks such as cleaning, sanitizing, and preparing activity areas

For Substitute:

• Step in as needed and adapt quickly to the daily routine
• Follow established procedures and maintain consistency for the children in care

For Full-Time Assistant:

• Provide consistent daily support in all aspects of the program
• Help maintain routine, structure, and overall flow of the daycare
• Build positive relationships with children and families

✨ Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must be able to pass all required NYS OCFS background checks and clearances
• Reliable, punctual, and dependable
• Comfortable caring for infants through school-age children
• Ability to maintain a safe, attentive, and nurturing environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Able to follow directions and work both independently and as part of a team
• Physically able to lift, carry, and actively engage with children throughout the day (including sitting on the floor, bending, and standing for extended periods)

Preferred but not required:

• Previous childcare experience (center-based, home daycare, babysitting, etc.)
• CPR and First Aid Certification
• Early Childhood Education background or coursework
