Position Summary
Little Spuds Early Learning Center is seeking a nurturing, dependable, and enthusiastic VPK Assistant Teacher to support our Voluntary Prekindergarten classroom. The ideal candidate is passionate about early childhood education, enjoys working as part of a team, and is committed to creating a positive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children.
This position supports the Lead Teacher in implementing daily classroom activities, maintaining classroom routines, and helping students grow socially, emotionally, and academically through hands-on learning experiences.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Teacher with daily classroom instruction and activities
- Support implementation of the Frog Street curriculum and CLASS-aligned interactions
- Help maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment
- Supervise children during centers, playground time, meals, and transitions
- Encourage positive behavior and model appropriate social skills
- Assist with classroom preparation, lesson materials, and bulletin boards
- Support children with potty training, self-help skills, and daily routines as needed
- Communicate professionally with families and team members
- Follow all licensing, health, and safety regulations
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and school events
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- DCF 45 Hours completed (or willingness to complete upon hire)
- CDA or Early Childhood coursework preferred
- Previous preschool or childcare experience preferred
- Must be reliable, patient, energetic, and team-oriented
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Ability to lift, bend, sit on the floor, and actively engage with young children throughout the day

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
