Certified Medical Assistant

Job Overview
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) supports the delivery of high-quality, culturally responsive healthcare within an integrated care team. This role provides direct patient care, clinical support, and administrative assistance to ensure efficient clinic operations. The CMA works collaboratively with providers, nurses, and tribal health staff to promote wellness, respect cultural traditions, and improve health outcomes for tribal members and surrounding communities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Room patients, collect vital signs, obtain health histories, and document information accurately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Assist providers with exams, procedures, and treatments in accordance with clinic protocols and scope of practice.
• Perform point-of-care testing, phlebotomy, specimen collection, EKGs, immunizations, and basic wound care.
• Prepare and maintain exam rooms, ensuring appropriate supplies, equipment sterilization, and infection control compliance.
• Support chronic disease management, screenings, and preventive health initiatives.
• Ensure patient safety, confidentiality, and adherence to tribal, federal, and state regulations.
• Serve on customer-owner care committees such as Infection Prevention Control, Quality Assessment/Quality Improvement, Integrated Behavioral Health, etc. to provide appropriate subject matter expertise.
• Participate in on-site and off-site continuing education programs and ensure training to maintain licensure as well as meet the needs of the population.
• Schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and support front-office operations as needed.
• Process referrals and documentation for third-party billing.
• Maintain accurate medical records and participate in quality improvement activities within the clinic.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members.
• Participate in community health events, outreach programs, and health education initiatives as requested.
• Cultivate a welcoming, inclusive environment for all patients, including tribal members, elders, and youth.
• Other duties as assigned and in keeping with standards of practice.

Skills

• Demonstrated skill in obtaining accurate vitals, performing point-of-care tests, giving injections, and supporting patient examinations.
• Skill in creating a welcoming environment, responding to patient concerns, and supporting patients through care processes.
• Skill in identifying patient needs, recognizing when to escalate concerns, and supporting clinical decision-making.
• Current in relevant licensing and BLS.

Pay: From $26.00 per hour
